HUES ≠ RACE HUES = SKIN TONE
We all have different levels of pigment in our skin. We have a different SPF or protection against the sun. Our natural SPF ranges from 0-13, depending on which skin type we are.
The myth: Darker skin doesn’t burn therefore doesn’t need protection. While melanin does naturally protect skin to an extent, it’s effects are greatly overstated (at most SPF 13), that is a lot less than the daily use of a SPF 30 or higher that dermatologists recommend for sun protection.
THE WORLD IS CHANGING
MIGRATION
If you’re in the U.S chances are your ancestral roots didn’t come from this part of the world. It’s likely you’re an immigrant. Your body wasn’t designed for the climate you’re in, so we need to acclimate to our climate. Acclimate is defined as, “become accustomed to a new climate or to new conditions.”
Migration patterns over hundreds of years have created a scenario in which most people’s skin pigmentation is no longer suited to their environments. Let’s equip you for this new world.
